The STAR Process (The Skill Training Assessment and Recognition Process) is a very important structural development that will raise the benchmark and professionalism in the SA hairdressing industry. It is a process that has been developed to assist eligible hairdressing workers, who may not have the qualifications or recognition as prescribed in the South Australia Hairdressers Act 1988 (Act), to apply to the STAR to be recognised or progress through further training and experience to become qualified and or recognised as per the Act, and the hairdressing industry’s expectations.

This is a unique process, not available anywhere else in Australia, and SAHBA invites you to apply.

We are now seeking employer representatives for the STAR Process Committee, who will be responsible for running the process. To be eligible, employers must:

  • Be Trade Qualified
  • Have a minimum 15 years’ hairdressing experience
  • Have a minimum 10 years’ experience as a salon employer of hairdressers
